What Is Eating My Tomatoes? 4

I took up gardening this year in the backyard.  We tilled up the side of our house and planted a fairly good sized garden.  We have all the usual things like carrots, lettuce, onions, various peppers, and tomatoes.  We have a lot of tomato plants.  Tomatoes are a staple in our house, as my wife is a vegetarian and tomatoes are basically her ground beef.  With these tomato plants, I calculated we’ll save about $957 this year.  I am only slightly exaggerating.

Enough chit chat, here’s the problem.  Something is snacking down on my nearly ripe tomatoes.  I am not the least bit happy about this and am contemplating going Chuck Norris on something.

All you tomato and garden experts out there.  What’s eating my tomatoes?

Angry Birds and Screwy Squirrels. Put some bird feeders up to distract the birds.

I would bet the farm you have a Box Turtle close by. I have one that tears my Tomatoes up every year and I actually caught him in the act a few times. Looks exactly like your picture.

Thanks Ralph, I will be on the lookout. A couple of days ago, I draped the garden in “Bird Block” netting and put out a big rubber snake. I’ll keep you posted.
