My Favorite Random NCAA Tournament Memory

We all have things about the NCAA Basketball Tournament that stand out to us.  These small memories are the things that make March Madness the best sporting event on the planet.  It doesn’t matter if you went to a school, or have never seen them play a minute before today.  The second Cinderella steps on the floor, all bets are off.

Here’s a game that i will never forget.  It’s as much time and place as anything else.  1988 – I am a Sophomore in High School.  This must have been Spring Break, because all of my friends were together watching this game.  The Auburn Tigers and the Bradley Braves.  I found a box score that details some of the shootout.  Chris Morris went for 36 for Auburn, while the soon to be immortal to us Hersey Hawkins went for 44.  I remember running around for days practicing that smooth Hersey Hawkins release.

24 years ago – Seems like yesterday.
