Having Fun Sending Email Marketing Messages 1

I have sent a LOT of email in my career.  I have pushed the button and been responsible for the team that has pushed the button.  I have consulted and advised clients on how often to push the button.  Billions of email messages have flown off into internets land at my direction.  There is actually a lot of pressure in pushing the button.  The button pusher is the last line between a great message and a company disaster.

I don’t know about the rest of you, but I have used humor to deal with that pressure.  I was thinking about some of  the phrases I’ve heard to describe some of the sends.  I know we’d never admit to uttering these words as we are pushing the red button, but I thought I’d share some of them today.  I encourage you to add to the list, coming clean always feels good!

P.S. – For whatever reason the theme of explosions and heavy artillery seems to be common.  I NEVER use the word “blast” even in jest.  Spam jokes are cool, blast jokes are not.

Drop the bombs
Sling the spam
Fire Away
Release the hounds
Highly Targeted Relationship Communications
Damn the torpedoes
Duck and cover
Tote the mail

Spam on, spam off, spam on, spam off, the spammer
Blow and go
Fire in the hole
“Loose”
Reach out and touch EVERYBODY
Spam-a-lama-ding-dong
That’s the way it was
It’s all over but the complaints
